Last week, I received an email from my teammate (and Inventium's CEO) Mish asking if ChatGPT wrote a LinkedIn post I had just made. I wrote back, "Sort of". This is what happened:
Inventium is currently hunting for a new facilitator / trainer. I was in a rush to post the job ad on LinkedIn, so I enlisted the help of ChatGPT. I described the job and what I wanted the ad to say. ChatGPT quickly spat out a post. I spent a couple of minutes editing the post, published it, and got on with my day. Until I received the email from Mish. Apparently, I don't use phrases like the "gospel of psychology" (true) nor do I use lots of emojis when I write (also true). 🤣 (get it?)
In my defence, I tend to avoid using ChatGPT for social media posts. When I have experimented with it, the writing just doesn't sound like me (no matter how many prompts I give it).
So when I came across this post from Ann Handley (one of my favourite writers on the interwebs), I thought I'd share it. Because it's useful. And so true.

My personal favourites on this list are #18 (getting ideas and inspiration for headlines, email subjects, etc) and #1 (getting diverse stimuli and ideas that I use as a springboard for more and better ideas).

And can I second, third and fourth #6. I have occasionally asked research questions of ChatGPT and many times, it told me about some fascinating studies - the problem being that said studies didn’t actually exist (very creative of the AI but sadly, rather unhelpful). But on the topic of research, I do LOVE Consensus for sourcing journal articles on particular subjects and questions I am pondering.
I’d love to hear what you’ve been using ChatGPT for successfully - and also, unsuccessfully. Let me know in the comments :)

Cheers
