If you work with PDF documents in your job or life (and really, who doesn’t?), you probably have experienced frustrations such as:

Sure, there are workarounds I have found for all of the above, but now, I have fallen in love with this site, appropriately called I LOVE PDF, that does it all (and more) for free. Bookmark it now.

I am a big fan of dinner parties (although I don’t organise them nearly as often as I’d like to). But you know what’s annoying about social gatherings? Co-ordination. Who brings what. The good news: I recently found a free solution - Whobrings.com. This site lets you create simple lists of all things required, which you can then share with your group and have people self-allocate who will bring what. Try it out for your next party / trip / group gathering.

100 things you might be taking for granted.

I love this post by MindBodyDad that lists 100 things we take for granted. Here are a few highlights:

  • Photographs. Can you imagine telling someone a thousand years ago that you touch a button and save a moment forever? Time travel for our memories.

  • The spray pump on spray bottles.

  • Batteries. The ability to charge something is mind-bending. Taking energy with you didn't exist until the invention of the battery in 1800 but now we can't live without it.

  • Hinges. I don’t even know what one level down from these is.

Need another reason to hit the gym? This recent meta-analysis found that regular strength training can help reduce symptoms of depression. And to increase the impact, longer training sessions, more frequent sessions, and a greater numbers of sets and repetitions were all associated with better outcomes for lifting mood.
